CACO3 PROTOTYPING - MAR 2016
The CaCO3 Depositional House research project, which can be viewed by clicking here, posits that the deposition and biomineralization of calcium carbonate over textile templates may form a basis for architecture in the near future. A house constructued from this ecological biomimetic process is accordingly proposed and sited at the Knaresborough Petrifying Well, Yorkshire. To test this speculation, a component of the proposed house, specifically a window frame, is currently being prototyped by this proposed construction method at the Knaresborough Petrifying well as shown in the images below. The prototype fabrication commenced on 1st March 2016 and will continue through 2016. Weekly updates on progress of the prototype fabrication are posted on James's instagram feed which can be viewed by clicking here.
