HILLINGDON ESTATE - PRE 2014
Hypersuburbia is a cultural critique on the current state of London’s suburban belt. The project locates itself in suburban Hillingdon, westest London. The suburbs were originally constructed as a pastoral landscape retreat for urbanites to escape from the polluted industrial city, yet remain in convenient contact with it. In the present state the suburbs are neither countryside nor city; an antithesis of place making. The project creates a new topography hybridising the picturesque English garden with man’s modern needs.
