SCULPTORS STUDIO
A dry studio for a sculptor located beachside on the Eleuthera Islands, Bahamas. To modulate the strong onshore winds and intense sunlight, and yet retain the pleasure of remaining outside in such a setting, extensive solar analysis and wind flow modelling were coupled with indigenous woodcarving craft to develop a shading timber pavilion. In addition to accommodating studio space, the pavilion also affords a beachside bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette within its cavernous interior, and an external post swim shower. James undertook the project whilst working for Gianni Botsford Architects, images are with kind permission and copyright Gianni Botsford Architects.
